FIVE VOICES...NO INSTRUMENTS...ONE NIGHT ONLY
DON'T MISS TOXIC AUDIO!
|
|
The stage is set for a fantastic gala evening with award winning A Cappella singing sensation Toxic Audio 7:45 p.m. Tuesday June 3, 2008 at Club Soda (1225 St-Laurent Boulevard). The performance will feature the highly acclaimed group along with some crazy on-stage antics guaranteed to wow the audience.
Formed in 1998 in Orlando , Florida , Toxic Audio members René Ruiz, Michelle Mailhot-Valines, Jeremy James, Shalisa James and Paul Sperrazza have merged their varied talents for an amazing array of vocal acrobatics, unstoppable rhythm and improv comedy in a show which takes the audience on an unforgettable musical journey. They use no instruments other than the human voice to create complex sonic textures, rhythmic drumbeats, thumping bass lines and searing guitar-like solos. In an eclectic mix of contemporary songs, comedy classics, jazz-scat and vocally orchestrated original compositions, their mouths mimic drums, guitars and horns and even turn a cough and a sneeze into an groovy backbeat.
“We encourage everyone to come out to the show, enjoy a fun filled evening and at the same time support a worthy cause,” said CJCS Foundation Gala Committee Co-Chairs Debi and Michael Latsky.
Tickets range from $180 Gold, $125 Silver, and $75 general admission. Proceeds will support essential programs and services for seniors.
The Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors is a leader in the provision of quality programs and professional services to the 50+ community. To purchase tickets call Rhona Veisfeld at 514-342-1234 extension 7373.

NEVER AGAIN!
Yom Hashoah, the annual commemoration to honour the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust, is an emotional day for many and this year's program will be ever so poignant. Holocaust survivors, their families and friends, will once again welcome Federation CJA and Cummings Centre staff to the ceremony which will take place on Tuesday, May 6 th , at 11 a.m. at the Gelber Conference Centre, 5700 Westbury Avenue, Montreal.
The program has also become even more meaningful as is it planned by the members of the Cummings Centre Drop-in Centre for Holocaust Survivors. Some survivors will light candles with their children or grandchildren. Others will pass the “torch of remembrance” to members of the Jewish community, some of whom are not direct descendants of Holocaust survivors.
The importance of commemoration is to remind the entire community to remember the Holocaust as an important part of our history.
