A NEW VISUAL IDENTITY FOR CJCS AND ITS FOUNDATION
|
|
For the first time since the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors (CJCS) was established it has updated its logo to better reflect its development, its profile, its values and its place within the 50 plus community in the greater Montreal area and its suburban communities.
The decision to proceed with a new visual identity for the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors is the culmination of more than a year of work. During this process, a number of descriptors were used in portraying the quality of the Centre as professional, competent and experts in the field. In terms of the feel and tone of the welcome provided by the Centre, it was described as caring, sensitive, compassionate, warm, devoted and responsive. It was agreed that although the Centre is unique, it is ever evolving and energetic.
This information was conveyed to a graphic artist who then came up with a four-colour design. “The new logo reflects our pride in our past and our confidence in our future,” added CJCS President Freda Rashkovan.
Although the logo uses the term Le Centre Cummings Centre , the official name, Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors will continue to be used, as will the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors Foundation . The full name of the Centre will appear in conjunction with the logo but in a secondary placement.
he Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors is a leader in the provision of quality programs, professional support services and volunteer opportunities for the 50+ community.

Put on your dancing shoes --- We are having a party!!!!!
It is time once again to celebrate our wonderful volunteers. We are all so grateful to our many volunteers who play a crucial role in bringing vitality and joy into the lives of our seniors. We will also be celebrating the 60 th birthday of Israel by recognizing the vital role volunteers played in building the country.
This year our annual Volunteer Recognition Party will take place on Thursday June 5 th at the Spanish and Portugese Synagogue between 12:30 and 3:30 pm. An Israeli style lunch, catered by Adam, will be served, followed by music and
dancing. We are thrilled to have The Absolutes back to entertain us and we look forward to a spectacular day. Tickets are available at the Volunteer Check-In desk or in the

WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY
Statistics Canada reports that as many as seven per cent of all seniors are abused . Seniors' advocates say our laws still need to catch up to the seriousness of the problem. In Canada, Elder Abuse and neglect are thought to be seriously under-reported, so statistics are unreliable: “surveys capture only what victims want to disclose, while police data reveals only the abuse that comes to their attention.”
June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day . Communities and municipalities will make proclamations declaring World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and hold events designed to raise awareness of abuse and neglect of older persons. The objectives of the day are to help people identify what constitutes abuse and neglect of older adults and to learn how it can be prevented. Because it falls on a Sunday this year, CJCS Support Services will staff an information table in front of the CJCS Boutique on Monday, June 16 to increase community understanding that elder abuse is a social and human rights issue that can be prevented.
