MONTREAL IMPACT JOEY SAPUTO
TO BE HONOURED AT SPORTS CELEBRITY BREAKFAST

Montreal Impact Soccer Team President Joey Saputo will be the Guest of Honour at the sixth annual Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors Sports Celebrity Breakfast on Sunday March 28 (9:30 a.m.) at the Gelber Conference Centre (5700 Westbury Avenue) in Snowdon. Proceeds from the event will support Seniors in Crisis , a program that delivers much needed assistance to seniors who are unable to financially look after their needs.

Present and retired athletes from the Impact, the Canadiens, the Alouettes, the Montreal Juniors, as well as representatives from the Canadian Olympic team, the world of boxing and the local media will also be in attendance. Some of the confirmed guests so far include Montreal Canadiens forward Mathieu Darche, former Habs players Guy Carbonneau, Vincent Damphousse, Claude Lemieux, NHL referee Dave Jackson, Montreal Alouettes President Larry Smith and former player Tony Proudfoot and former Montreal Expos pitcher Denis Boucher, now a scout for the New York Yankees.

Among the media attending are Herb Zurkowsky and Dave Stubbs from The Gazette, André Corbeil from CTV, Rick Moffat and Abe Hefter from CJAD, veteran broadcaster Jim Bay, former Alouette Gabrielle Grégoire and former NHL enforcer Dave Morrisette of CKAC Radio and Noel Butler from THE TEAM 990.

The committee planning the event is chaired by Michael Wagen, Senior Vice President of Delmar Group. Honourary Chair is Morden “Cookie” Lazarus. Suburban Newspaper columnist Mike Cohen and Charles-André Marchand from CKAC Sports Radio will serve as masters of ceremonies.

silent auction for a variety of sports memorabilia will also be held. Regular admission is $20. A limited number of VIP tickets will be on sale for $100. This will include exclusive access to the VIP Room where all invitees will gather before the event. A souvenir program book and a full breakfast are included. The Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors, in partnership with the Jeffery Hale and the Community Health and Social Services Network will be hosting a conference: “Seniors Health Promotion Symposium: Sharing Best Practices of the English Speaking Community Across Quebec.” Health and social service professionals from community organizations and public sector services across Quebec will be welcomed to Montreal 's Gelber Conference Centre March 10 and 11.

The conference will begin with an evening reception on March 10 which will also launch the Cummings Centre's 50+ anniversary celebrations of providing programs, services and volunteer opportunities to older adults. March 11 is dedicated to presentations, workshops and a resource fair about models of program and service delivery for older adults in Montreal and other Quebec cities and towns. The theme of the conference is the vital role both community and public sector services play in maintaining seniors in the community.

David Levine, President and Executive Director of the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal will provide the keynote address. Richard Walling, Executive Director of Jeffery Hale Community Partners and Louis Hanharan, Executive Director of Saint Brigid's-Jeffery Hale Hospital will provide the closing plenary session.  Additional conference details are available at www.cummingscentre.org
