Cummings Centre welcomes Pauline Grunberg in her new role as Executive Director taking over the baton from Herb Finkelberg who served in the role for 35 years. Pauline previously served as Director of Rehabilitation Services as well as Interim Executive Director at the Miriam Home and Services and more recently as Executive Advisor of Training and Local Commissioner of Complaints and Quality of Services at CSSS de la Montagne. The Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors Foundation also changed its top officers at its annual meeting with Mark Bercuvitz succeeding Bram Besner as President. Joining Bercuvitz on the executive will be Vice-Presidents Philip Abbey and Earl Fixman.

Cathy Simons has been director of the Foundation since its creation in 2004. Under her professional leadership, the Foundation has developed, grown and expanded. Cathy holds a Master in Social Work and is a professional fundraiser with over 30 years of experience. Aside from overseeing all fundraising initiatives, Cathy concentrates much of her time on Financial Resource  development, doing her best to ensure that major funds are secured for the Centre.

Arlene Feigelman brings both a professional and volunteer experience to the Cummings Centre, where she recently served as vice-president of the organization. Her involvement and commitment to the Centre included serving on many committees over the years, more recently as chairperson of Communications and Marketing, where she oversaw a branding effort and growth in target marketing that continues to raise the profile of the Centre to even greater levels.

Feigelman noted the challenges ahead as president of the Cummings Centre. “At Cummings we are continually striving to bring innovative programs and services to the 50 plus population,” she said. “As our current Strategic Plan is up for renewal at the end of 2015, it is time to assess our successes and re-examine areas for improvement.  I am excited about contributing to this process as we continue to serve a growing population today and well into the future. Our priority is to provide the most innovative programs, services and volunteer opportunities to our members.”

Incoming Foundation President Mark Bercuvitz, a retired accountant, has been involved with the Foundation and its Governors Program for many years, more recently serving on the Foundation Board of Directors as treasurer. “I thank you for entrusting me with the Presidency of our Foundation,” he said. “I have been involved since its inception and I am humbled to be able to continue our good work. At the Foundation, we take our role very seriously. We are keenly focused on our immense responsibility to our seniors as well as overseeing our financial resources. We move towards the next chapter in our history with a sense of confidence, optimism and most importantly purpose about the key role our Foundation plays in providing funding for our vibrant and growing Centre.”
